 Bush Vetoes Bill Banning Torture Interview with former CIA analyst Mel Goodman, senior fellow at the Center for International Policy, conducted by Scott Harris  In defending his veto, Bush made the unsubstantiated claim that harsh interrogation methods employed by the CIA had prevented a number of terrorist attacks and is still needed to protect the country. Human rights advocates and congressional critics were quick to condemn the president's veto for violating both the Geneva Conventions and the Detainee Treatment Act, that prohibit "cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment." Between The Lines' Scott Harris spoke with Mel Goodman a former CIA analyst who is now a senior fellow at the Center for International Policy. Goodman takes a critical look at President Bush's veto of the torture bill and public reaction to the constitutional violations that the White House justifies by claiming these actions are necessary to fight the war on terrorism. Iraq, Afghan Vets Testify on Realities of War at Winter Soldier Hearings Interview with Geoff Millard, Washington D.C. chapter president of Iraq Veterans Against the War, conducted by Scott Harris 
United for Peace and Justice, the nation's largest antiwar coalition, is organizing a day of nonviolent direct action in the nation's capital on Mach 19th, the day in 2003 when the Iraq invasion began, which will include the participation of delegations from all 50 states. Local antiwar protests, vigils and teach-ins will be held in communities large and small around the country demanding an end to the war and occupation on the same day. From March 13 to 16, Iraq Veterans Against the War have organized the Winter Soldier hearings in Washington. Named for the 1971 Vietnam War era hearings, U.S. Iraq and Afghan War veterans will give testimony on the reality of what is going on in both of these conflicts and occupations. Between The Lines' Scott Harris spoke with Geoffrey Millard, a 9-year Veteran of the Army National Guard who served with the 42nd Infantry Division in Iraq for 13 months. Millard, who is currently Washington, D.C. chapter President of Iraq Veterans Against the War, discusses the purpose of the Winter Soldier hearings, which will be broadcast nationwide. Nader Vice Presidential Running Mate, Matt Gonzalez, Advocates Electoral Reform Interview with Matt Gonzalez, Ralph Nader's vice presidential running mate, conducted by Melinda Tuhus  Gonzalez, a member of the Green Party, was elected in 2000 to the San Francisco County Board of Supervisors in a non-partisan election. He served two terms, including one as board president. In 2003, Gonzalez ran for mayor of San Francisco against Democrat Gavin Newsom and came close to beating him. Nader said he valued Gonzalez's experience in the electoral arena as a minority party candidate. He currently is a partner in a San Francisco law firm specializing in civil rights litigation.
