The articles of impeachment against Cheney are centered around three charges: purposely manipulating intelligence to fabricate a threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction in order to justify an attack on Iraq; deceiving Congress about an alleged relationship between Iraq and al-Qaida; threatening aggression against the Republic of Iran, absent any real threat to the United States. John Nirenberg of Brattleboro, Vt., a former college professor and dean, doesn't consider himself to be an activist. But he became so angered in recent years about what he views as the Bush administration's assault on the Constitution and democracy, that on Dec. 1, he began a symbolic walk from Boston to Washington, D.C. to advocate the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney. On his 444-mile walk down the northeast coast to challenge Nancy Pelosi to take impeachment off the table, Nirenberg is urging citizens he meets to take action on their nation's dire Constitutional crisis. During the southern Connecticut leg of his walk, Between The Lines' Scott Harris reached Nirenberg by phone and asked him to explain why he undertook this difficult winter journey.
