"So I think it's very reasonable for people who are working for Bernie to ask, 'What's the Plan B? What do we do if he loses?' It's not a threatening question to me. It's simply a good, solid, American pragmatic question, because there needs to be a Plan B."

– George Lakey, activist and author, considers the options for Bernie Sanders supporters if their candidate doesn't win the Democratic party nomination

Bernie Sanders' Supporters Should Have a Plan B: Build a Movement

MP3 Interview with George Lakey, author, activist and co-founder of Earth Quaker Action Group, conducted by Scott Harris

bernie

After months of daily polling, endless live TV coverage of Donald Trump rallies and commentators holding forth on the top candidates' every word, Iowans cast ballots in the state's caucuses on Feb. 1, the nation's first real test of voter sentiment. Bernie Sanders of Vermont by less than four Iowa delegates out of a total of slightly more than 1,397.  Story continues

On Jan. 27, the Connecticut chapter of the ACLU held a forum at Yale Law School, titled, "Pay or Stay," a reference to Connecticut's system of cash bail that, if a defendant can't pay it, requires that person to stay in jail while awaiting a resolution to their case. That resolution, in almost all cases, is a plea deal rather than a trial, and data reveals that defendants who are held in jail have worse outcomes than those who are free on bond or released on their own recognizance.  Story continues

militia

In early January, dozens of men and woman – part of an armed militia group – took over the headquarters buildings of the federal Malheur National Wildlife Refuge near Burns, Oregon. Among this group were Ammon and Ryan Bundy, sons of Nevada ranger Cliven Bundy, who recruited members of armed militia groups from around the country to defy the federal law enforcement officers attempting to collect unpaid cattle grazing fees in 2014.  Story continues
