During his presidential election campaign, Donald Trump repeatedly stated that if elected, he would not make cuts to Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid programs. The real estate billionaire differentiated himself from his Republican opponents during the primary campaign, pointing out that he alone was the candidate who would not touch social safety net programs, declaring, it’s not fair to the people who have been paying into the system for years.  Story continues

While Donald Trump was in the midst of his first overseas trip as president, another explosive news report was published, casting an ever darkening shadow over his administration in office of just over 120 days. On May 26, The Washington Post broke the story that Trump's senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner had proposed setting up a back-channel between the Trump transition team and Moscow using Russia’s secure cyber equipment at either Moscow’s embassy or consulate. The newspaper said that Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak had reported to his superiors that Kushner made the proposal during a meeting with him on either Dec. 1 or 2 at Trump Tower, according to intercepts of Russian communications that were reviewed by U.S. intelligence agencies.  Story continues

A man who was instrumental in the fight for gay rights in the 1970s and the fight against AIDS in the 1980s and '90s has been working ceaselessly since then for justice for workers and everyone else. While still in high school, Cleve Jones was electrified by a story he read in Life magazine in 1971 about gay liberation. After high school, he found a mentor in Harvey Milk, an out gay man and a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.  Story continues
