Betsy Sweet, 2018 Maine gubernatorial candidate, the first well-known Democrat to announce a campaign to run against U.S. Senator Susan Collins, the four-term Maine Republican. Collins has been targeted for defeat in the 2020 election for her votes supporting President Trump, including her vote favoring confirmation of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
