- Prior to the third anniversary of the Saudi Arabia-led military intervention in Yemen, the pro-Sunni coalition carried out over 17,000 airstrikes on one of the poorest nations on earth. The mass bombardment has resulted in a humanitarian crisis with thousands of civilians killed, and a deadly cholera epidemic. Still, the Saudi coalition, backed by the United States and Britain has not defeated Yemen’s Shiite Houthi rebels.
